In the development process of modern cities, the importance of wires and cables is self-evident. They are key elements supporting the operation of urban infrastructure. Especially in large-scale engineering projects such as high-rise buildings and underground transportation networks, the use of wires and cables is huge, and their performance is directly related to the safety and efficiency of the entire project. Therefore, both designers and cost accountants must accurately calculate the type and usage of cables to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

With the increasing awareness of public safety and environmental protection, fire-resistant cables and fire-resistant cables are increasingly used in public buildings and crowded areas. Although the two cables have similar names, their functions and application scenarios are different. Next, we will introduce the characteristics and differences of the two cables in detail.

First, let's understand [fire-resistant cable]. This cable can burn continuously for 3 hours under high-temperature flames of 750 to 800°C and will not break down at rated voltage. Fire-resistant cables are mainly used in those occasions where power supply must be maintained after a fire to ensure the continued operation of critical systems.

Next is [fire-resistant cable], also known as magnesium oxide mineral insulated cable, or MI cable for short. This cable is composed of a copper core, a copper sheath and magnesium oxide insulation material, and has extremely high fire resistance and high temperature resistance. The long-term use temperature of fire-resistant cables can reach 250°C, and they can be maintained at high temperatures of 950 to 1000°C for 3 hours (according to international standards, this time is usually 90 minutes). In extreme cases, they can even withstand high temperatures close to the melting point of copper, 1083°C. Despite the excellent performance of fire-resistant cables, their cost is relatively high and they do not have the flexibility of ordinary cables.

In the field of civil construction, fire-resistant cables are mainly used in key areas to ensure the safety of people and property, such as fire protection systems, emergency lighting and other important loads. Through the above introduction, we can clearly distinguish the different characteristics and application scenarios of fire-resistant cables and fire-proof cables. When selecting cables, the appropriate cable type should be reasonably selected according to actual needs and safety standards to ensure the safe operation of the building and the safety of people's lives.
